Roadtrip Tips and Tricks
Road trips are one of my favorite ways to travel and explore! I love how I can visit numerous cities, see various landmarks, and cover so much ground in a short amount of time. However, doing this with kids can seem overwhelming and exhausting if you are not prepared. Here, I will share my own experiences and ideas to help your family enjoy the drive to the fullest.

Tips
- Pack a bag, or box with new activity books, small toys, puzzles, etc. Include snacks and treats that the child may not get often to make it extra special! Gum, chips, candy, a special drink, etc. I Like the dollar store and Amazon for picking out these items.
- Throw out the idea that you’re going to limit screen time. Bring an iPad, tablet, hand held video game, etc. to throw in the mix so they can relax with a movie or game every so often.
- Make some playlists that include songs everyone likes! I love listening to music that everyone in the car can appreciate!
- Plan for family activities where all passengers are involved such as I Spy, Road Trip Bingo, Would You Rather, The License Plate Game.
- When you stop for a break, whether it’s for the bathroom or gas, have everyone get out to move around! It may prevent another stop in the near future.
- Look along your route for easy scenic pull outs or short activities to stop and do along the way!
- Point out landmarks and nice scenery as you drive! They may roll their eyes but they take it in and soon you may hear them pointing out their own exciting finds along the drive!
- Maximize your drive time in a day- leave at night or extremely early and take turns with your partner driving through the night while the kids sleep. You may miss out on some stops but sometimes the goal is just to get there as quick as possible!
